Compassion Australia – ‘Sound of Hope’ Immersive Exhibition
In 2022, there was a national conference where Compassion Australia attended as a charity partner and created an immersive exhibition for delegates to experience over the three days. The exhibition’s concept ‘Sound of Hope’ was developed by the Art Director and it was my role to use design to bring this idea to life, from my computer screen to the on-location days for bumping in.
‘Sound of Hope’ is based on the idea that everyday sounds like water dripping and bricklaying mean different things entirely to people living in poverty. What seems an inconvenience in plumbing for us–means drinking clean water for the first time, loud construction across the road for us–means a safe infrastructure for a family to live in. So, the aim was to create a 360-degree film experience for people to feel like they are travelling to Uganda and Kenya as they follow a few real children and the reality of their day-to-day lives, highlighting the hope and impact that comes with being a part of the Compassion sponsorship and community programs.
The exhibition space was a 5m x 10m outdoor marquee with 3m tall panels of LED screens placed in a curve to follow the shape of the 360-degree camera footage. Collaborating closely with the Narrative and Film Team, the project delivery included; ‘Sound of Hope’ wordmark and style guidelines, outdoor marquee banner and fit out (lighting, dividers, flooring, etc.), signage, film and on-screen graphics, temporary display walls, exhibition brochure, lanyards and volunteer dress code, pre and post-event eDMs, A6 seat drop card, iPad wallpapers and more.
